Bladder infection or cystitis is urinary tract infection affecting men, women and even children. However, women are more susceptible to this infection as they have shorter urethra comparing to men. Bladder infection mainly infects the part of the urinary system but when the bacteria spreads and enters into the other part of the urinary bladder; it becomes chronic often termed as chronic bladder infection.



Causes of Chronic Bladder infection


In our body, urinary system plays a vital role in aiding several biological functions. The urinary system consists of urethra, bladder, kidneys and ureters. All the excretory waste and toxins are released from the body through the urinary system; therefore, urinary system must be healthy and strong for the proper functioning of the body. However, bacteria called Escherichia coli (E.coli) enters into the body through urethra and cause infection.

In women bacteria easily enters into the upper part of the urinary tract through sexual intercourse. In men, chronic bladder infection typically caused due to avoiding to urinate for long times and enlarged prostate and kidney stones are some cause of this infection. Some of the causes of chronic bladder infections are kidney stones, entry of bacteria through the urethra during sexual intercourse, hormonal imbalance during menopause, and genetic predisposition.


Symptoms of Chronic Bladder infection:


People suffering with chronic bladder infection may experience mild to severe abdominal or pelvic pain. There may be pain while urination, frequent urges to urinate, mild fever and sometimes there may be flow of blood with the urine. The symptoms may vary depending upon the severity of the infection.

Treatment for Chronic Bladder infection


Bladder infection can be chronic if left untreated and may cause kidney infection. This condition occurs when the bacteria travels into the kidney from urethra. Chronic bladder infection can be treated in number of ways. One should also consider some factors to reduce the risk of bladder infection such that:

  • Drinking plenty of water and other fluids each day
  • Apple cider vinegar and cranberry juice is a superficial home remedy for bladder infection.
  • Wiping out completely after taking shower
  • Women should avoid using perfumed spray

Besides this some antibiotics and other natural bladder control medications are also available. Natural treatment for bladder control is considered to be safe and effective cure for bladder infection. It is highly effective in providing relief from symptoms of chronic bladder infection.
